Golf Course Consultant Report
Parks Director John Hodgson said that in 1998, after an RFP process, SSMD was reselected to
manage the Riverbend Golf Course. Beginning in July, last year, and through November, there
were revenue shortfalls which were addressed with fee increases. In January 1999, Economics
Research Associates was retained by the City to evaluate current operations, including the review
of financial and market performances.
Gene Krekorian, Senior Vice President,ERA, went over the consultant's report for the golf
course saying that the result of the study was that there did not appear to be any significant under
performing elements of the Riverbend facility in light of current and anticipated market
conditions, and that it was, for the most part, in reasonably good condition. Mr. Krekorian
detailed four operating options: Maintenance by the City; Continued operation with the
concessionaire; Contracting out the entire operation; and having a full facility lease.
Legislative Update
Government Affairs Manager Dena Laurent said the Governor was calling a special session to
deal with additional issues. The City's primary issue for the special session is Transportation.
Regional Issues
Director of Operations Brent McFall handed out a report that identified 35 potential target issues.
He said nothing was happening on the regional scene very fast, and noted that since Bellevue
was no longer part of the Suburban Cities Association, it had been recommended that the third
large city(at least 60,000 population) seat be left open.
The meeting adjourned at 6:14 PM.
