FEBRUARY 16, 1966
Due to the overcrowded schedules of some of the board members, the
monthly meeting was postponed from February 14th to this date.
Y The meeting was called to order at 2 35 p.m. by Chairman, 1"ayor Thornton.
-- Other members of the board also presents City Clerk, Marie Jensen,
elected members lion Bridge and James Snail. Also on hand! Fire Chief
Foster, City Accountant Nalke-r.
A motion was passed to correct the minutes of the December 9th meeting
as follows: claims are to be paid after approval by the board, not the
council as was printed. A motion was made and passed for the Fire
Department to adhere to the decision arrived at by secret vote whereby
it was determined that the firemen not pay into Social Security in addi—
tion to the pension fund.
A motion was passed for the bookkeeper to be informed that State Indust®
" 1 rial Aid should no longer be withheld from the firemen's checks.
Discussion was had on medical. coverage for the firemen's families. It
- was pointed out that the firemen were Laying king County for themselves
in order to make their families eligible for coverage. Discussion was
had as to the feasibility of the Pension Ftnd paying for the coverage
on the fireman and he in turn paying for his family. It was suggested
that a Bing County representative be asked to meet with the group, to
review the situation before April when the city's contract with King
County comes up again. The secretary was asked to check also with Group
Health to see if a firemen's family could be covered without the fireman
himself becoming a member.
- A request for a mercury vapor light behind the fire station was made.
The City Clerk stated she would forward same to the street .light committee.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at
3 :40 p.m.
