FIREMEN'S PENSION BOARD MEETING
SEPTEMBER 27, 1066
The meeting was called to order at 11 : 10 a.m. by Mayor Alex Thornton. Present :
A
Board Members Marie Jenson, Duffy Armstrong, James Small and Don Bridge, Fireman
Alvin Simms.
Mayor Thornton explained the circumstances under which the Fire Chief was informed
that Alvin Simms was employed elsewhere while on disability from the city. Sinrs
and Faster reported that they had visited S&H Sales and had determined that the man
in question was one Eldon Sims, a former employee of the City of Auburn, In answer
to a direct question from the Mayor, Simms stated that he had not been employed any
where while being paid as a City of Kent Fireman.
Simms reported on his physical condition, remarking on his lack of progress toward
recovery. It was determined that the Mayor should call. Fred Smith of Group Health
and see if Group Health would refer Simms to an outside doctor and to also request
a full written report on Simms j condition from Doctor BrAwn. By motion, the Mayor
was also authorized to refer Simms to another doctor, if he determined it necessary
after talking to Mr . Smith, at the expense of the Firemen> Pension Board.
Fireman Webster noted that he had not as yet prepared his appeal and that the City
Attorney would be contacted by his attorney.
There being no further business to come before the board, the meeting was adjourned
at 11 :30 a.m.
