FIREMENIS PENSION BOARD
January 25 , 1974

The meeting of the Firemen's Pension Board was called to
order at 9 : 30 a.m. Present: Board Members, Councilman
Gary_;Just, Firefighter Ordndorff, and Secretary Marie
Jensen. Also present: Fire Chief Tom Foster.
The secretary noted that the Board had received a letter
from Firefighter Glenn Webster who has retired on disability
i under the LEFF Act. Webster has pointed out that the LEFF )
Pension Board does not adjust pension payments until April
and that according to RCW 41.18.080 he is entitled to
l one-half of the salary currently paid to Kent Firefighters
First Class. Since Kent Firefighters received a raise
effective January 1, Webster has requested that the Fire-
men$s Pension Fund make up the difference amounting to
$26 .50 per month until LEFF makes their adjustment in April.
Chief Foster and Secretary Jensen explained that the
Pension Fund was liable for this expenditure under the
law because Webster was a fireman prior to the enactment
of the LEFF Act. JUST MOVED to approve the expenditure
of $26.50 per month until the adjustment is made by LEFF,

Captain Bridge and Mayor Hogan were unable to attend the
), meeting but had been contacted by phone and concurred in
this action. )

It was noted that in the past the Firemen$'s Pension Board
had agreed to pay for physicals for the firemen from the
Firemen's Pension Fund . For clarification, Jensen moved
for the Firemen°s Pension Fund to pay for physicals annually
for the firemen, Orndorff seconded , motion carried . Foster
pointed out that the Kent Medical Center has been designated
as the firemenns clinic.
The Secretary was asked to secure from the City Treasurer
a financial report on the current status and investments
of the Firemen's Pension Fund.
