Firemen' s Pension Board
February 21, 1978

Present: Board Members Mayor Hogan, Lt. Opel and City Clerk Marie
Jensen
Also present: Finance Director Winkle
Board Members Billie Johnson and Lt. Orndorff were notified of the
meeting but were unable to attend.
Winkle explained that the purpose of the meeting was to gain author-
ization from the Board to authorize a new actuarial study. He
noted that such a study is required every five years and that the
r City had not been satisfied with the study made in 1974 by the firm
of Milliman & Robertson of Seattle.
Upon questions from Mayor Hogan, Winkle explained that Dick Evans ,
�.� insurance broker for the City, has recommended J Howe of National
� g Associates of Seattle to conduct the study. Winkle stated he would
contact Evans to determine whether this firm has done actuarial
studies for other, firemen's pension boards in this area.
Mayor Hogan moved that a study be made by an actuarial consultant
A, and that the fee for such study is not to exceed $750 . Jensen
seconded, motion carried. A financial report of the fund compiled
by the City Treasurer was distributed.
