HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Fireman's Relief and Pension Board - 03/06/1996 Firemen ' s Relief & Pension Board March 6, 1996 Chief Berg called the meeting to order at 9 : 00 a.m. Present: Gene Grenstad, Brenda Jacober, and Laurie Murray. Approval of Minutes. Grenstad moved to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of February 7 , 1996, and the special meeting of February 13 , 1996 . Jacober seconded and the motion carried. Approval of Financial Transactions. Murray distributed copies of the January financial transactions, noting that it covers the cash investments position, the operating revenues and expenditures (in which expenditures exceed revenues) , the cash flows, comparisons to 1995, investments (which have gone down a bit) , investments by type, and estimated cash flows through September 1996 . She added that she expects to receive $84 , 000 in May. Grenstad moved to approve the January financial transactions. Jacober seconded and the motion carried. Alternate Boardmember. Berg explained that the two firefighter Boardmembers choose an alternate, and that they have selected Sam Grubbs. Actuarial Study. Murray noted that an actuarial study is required every two years and that the last one was done in 1994 . She requested approval to proceed with a new actuarial study. She noted that the cost will be $2500 plus $20 per member, or approximately $3500. Grenstad moved that an actuarial study be done. Berg seconded and the motion carried. i Meeting Times. Jacober noted that Boardmember Jon Johnson now works the day shift and cannot attend 9 : 00 a.m. meetings. She added that Johnson had suggesting either changing the meeting time or having another member of the Operations Committee attend in his place. It was noted that the by-laws state that the Chair of the Operations Committee shall be on the Board. Jacober agreed to speak to Johnson to see if he could attend these meetings if they were held at 4 : 30 p.m. It was clarified that the next meeting of this Board will be held at 9: 00 a.m. on April 3rd, and that this item will appear on the agenda. CPI Adjustment. Berg stated that it has been pointed out that the increase is being erroneously calculated, in that the statue says it should be done yearly and it has been done twice a year (every six months) instead. He agreed to research this further before the next meeting. Adjournment.
