Firemen's Relief & Pension Board
January 7, 2003
Board Members Present: Jim White, Al Bond, Sam Grubbs, Gene Grenstad,
Brenda Jacober
Others Present: John Hillman, Brigitte Hoopes
Mayor White called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m.
Approval of Minutes. Bond moved to accept the minutes of the meeting of October
1, 2002, as presented. Grubbs seconded and the motion carried.
Approval of September, October and November Financial Transactions.
Hillman distributed copies of the financial transactions for September, October and
November. He noted that in October $600,000 was sold to Federal Home Loan Bank,
put into the pool and lost some interest. Grubbs moved to accept the financial
transactions. Bond seconded and the motion carried.
New Rank. Jacober distributed Hoopes' memo regarding the creation of a new rank
and it's financial implications. Discussion was held regarding Captain benefits. Mayor
White asked to get actual dollar amounts. Action will be taken after follow up with
Legal.
COLAs. Hoopes distributed contract, pay scale table and pension comparison of
benefits. She noted there were a few changes on longevity. There was discussion
regarding pension compensation of benefits. Service retirement cap of 60% was
brought up and discussed. Hoopes was asked to check on this and to bring back a
copy of code. Grubbs moved to accept the pension comparison benefits for 2003.
Bond seconded and the motion carried.
Adjournment. There was no other business and the meeting adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
