HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Fireman's Relief and Pension Board - 07/05/2011 t KENT Firemen's Relief & Pension Board July 5, 2011 Board Members Present: Suzette Cooke, Les Thomas, Sam Grubbs, Al Bond, Brenda Jacober Others Present: Bonnie Fell, Susanne Shaw The Mayor called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. Minutes of April 5, 2011. Grubbs moved to approve the minutes of April 5, 2011. Bond seconded and the motion carried. Financial Transactions for March. April and May 2011. There were no questions, and Bond moved to accept the March, April and May 2011 financial transactions. Grubbs seconded and the motion carried. Board Position No. 2 Election Results. Jacober reported that Al Bond has been elected to serve another two years in Board Position No. 2. Investment Policy Ordinance Update. Fell noted that the investment policy ordinance was removed from the April 5, 2011, Operations Committee agenda, and Thomas agreed to check on the status of the ordinance for the next meeting. Cost of Living Allowance for Non-Duty Disability Pensioners. Shaw reported that the COLA increase will be .07%, and pointed out that there are only two non-duty disability members, one of whom is a survivor who will not be affected, and one who will receive an increase of $11.05 per pay period. Shaw noted that the same person was being underpaid, and that a new process has been developed to avoid such errors. It was clarified that because this issue is covered by the RCW, no action is required and that in the future it will appear on the agenda as an information item. Other Business. Grubbs noted that the state legislature discussed combining LEOFF 1 and LEOFF 2 into one fund. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 3:40 p.m. r' Brenda Jacobe(�&C Boardmember/City Clerk
