MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 19, 1964
Auburn City Hall
Meeting called to order at 8:10 p.m. by President Bob Wing. Motion from the
membership to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meet-
ing was passed.
President Wing announced that the Executive Committee appointments had been
completed. These are Bob Wing, President, Noel Bicknell, Vice President,
Ken Weeks, Secretary-Treasurer, John Fournier, and Farris Anderson.
President Wing discussed the purpose of industrial development, reviewing in
part the comments of our guest speaker of the preceding meeting, Mr. John J.
Swan, of the Washington State Department of Commerce and Economic Development
concerning the State of Washington comprehensive development plan. President
Wing announced that our program for the next meeting will be John Fournier,
discussing Industrial Development Promotion.
Warren Gonnason stated there was no report at this time on the flood control
zone district petition as the county was waiting on approval from particip-
ating city councils.
In Dick Bowen's absence, Mr. Wing mentioned the problem of disparity between
rail freight tariffs and truck freight tariffs from the Valley. This is one
of the important problems on the Commission's list of objectives for this
year.
President Wing announced the appointment of Baldwin P. Sammis as chairman of
the committee to make comparative studies of existing industrial water and
sewer charges to industry in the Valley, and study of existing land use
zoning requirements along inter city boundaries, right-of-way width, and
set-back requirements on arterials.
The program for the evening was a panel discussion headed by Harold Iverson
concerning development of the county's major streets and highways plan.
A motion from the floor to eliminate the December meeting of the Commission
owing to conflict with the Christmas holidays was made, seconded, and un-
animously passed. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 9:20 p.m.
