September 24, 1964 Meeting called to order at 8 P.M. by President Charles 0. Baker. Motion from membership that the reading of the minutes of the meeting of May 28, 1964 be dispensed with. Chairman Baker recalled the group's attention to the fact that the principle business to be transacted at this meeting was the election of new officers. At the same time, he informed the group he had `.endered his resignation to Mayor John Strarder cif' ''Tukwila, explaining that important personal considerations motivated his action. He recalled his deep past and continuing interest in the objectives of the Commission, and, expressed an interest in being kept irforrner c: the groi:pis progress. A discussian of items of interest t�0 the Commission which nad taken place during the summer recess included ment.ica of cerrespondei.ce relative to the expediting of freeway construction, information relative to flood control planning activities, ana wi intereatinK repc..,rt by Jorn Fournier concerning efforts to secure a mal;cr _eag+:e baseball tears for the Seattle area. Warren Gormason of the King County Engineer's Office reported that King County Commissioners and the mayors of Auburn, Tukru_la and Renton have signed the application for federal assistance for the West Side Green River Watershed. This application is necessary before the approximately $5,000,000 in federal funds can be allocated on a matching basis for the drainage work recommended .under the recently completed Soil Conservation Service study of the Valley. In addition to that of Charles 0. Baker, the resignation of Lyle Sand- elius was announced due to his having been transferred from Renton to Seattle. A resolution of thanks was prepared for both, with particular emphasis on the part played by Baker in the formation of the Valley Industrial Commission in 1959. f , Minutes Valley Reg. Plan.
