Vice-President MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF June 24, 1965
Kent City Hall
Meeting was called to order at 8:05 p.m. by President Bob Wing. A motion from the
membership to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting passed.
President Wing reviewed the presentation made at the previous meeting on Green River
Valley Flood Control and Drainage study by three cooperating agencies -- the Port of
Seattle, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and King County. He then read a letter from
the Port of Seattle containing the information that Batelle Research Institute had
been retained for a research study on the upper Duwamish River.
Another letter was read from Fred Tolan indicating that Milwaukee Railroad intends to
drop their less-than-carload-lot service.
An article in the Wall Street Journal of June 21 was discussed concerning the proposal
for a new joint Government/Public Corporation to deal in suburban real estate.
It was announced that Washington State Soil Conservation Service will hold a special
meeting to present the East Side Valley Flood Control plan on June 29 at the Renton
City Hall.
President Bob Wing on behalf of Puget Power alerted the Valley Regional Planning Comuw
mission to a hearing to be held at a later date by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on
the limited boat shipping activity that will be available in the south part of Lake
Washington if the present plan for the third bridge is carried out.
The following announcements wer also made: The Brown Paint Co. will have a ground
breaking ceremony shortly on their new site near Kent. John Fournier has been elected
President of the National Weekly Newspaper Association. Vice President Humphrey will
be at the dedication of the new Boeing facility near Kent sometime in October.
Harold D. Tscheu, Chief Deputy County Assessor, was guest speaker on Tax Implications
on PerimeterProperty.
The meeting was adjounred at 9:55 p.m., there being no further business.

Robert C. Wing, Kenneth F. Weeks, Jack A. Hawkins, Alex Thornton, Glen W. Sherwood,
Phil Aspinwall, Howard H. Bothell, Harold D. Tscheu, Noel Bicknell and Baldy Sammis.
There will be no general meeting in July and August, however, the Executive Committee
will meet at noon Thursday at the Elks Club in Auburn on July 22 and August 26. Any
members who wish to attend are cordially invited.
