Neeting was called to order at St45 pm, by President Bob Ming. A motion from
the membership to dispense with minutes of the previous meeting was passed.
Baldwin Sammi• presented now charts on comparative water rates and comparative
industrial sewer rates in the four cities. President Ming rapeeted Kro Samds
to reproduce the shorts for distribution at the next meeting.
Marren Connason discussed flood control and drainage projects in the Valley
and showed pictures taken during the recent high water as an example of the
need. He reported that at a project meeting recently in Rent, the last Side
project received a higher priority, however Soil Conservation Service will
submit both projects to Congress this session on the basis of pumping (as an
alternate„ gravit drainage flow be considered if Corps of Ingi.nserst study
shows feasibility`.
Noel Bicknell discussed a proposal concerning the extension of sewers to the
industrial area of Rent.
Niel Hagestad reported that an Auburn airport comittee has submitted to the
Federal Aviation Agency several possible sites for an airport for their approval.
Dick Bowen reported that the Greater Tukwila Chamber of Commerce recently hold
a meeting with about 200 attending to feel out the wishes of the numbers on the
proposed annwmticn of additional Property into Tukwila.
Bob Ming, in the absence of John Fournier# discussed the status of our program
for industrial promotion and announced that Stewart Heal, Puget Power, would
assist by completing the inventory of industrial properties for Auburn and
Tukwila sad rovisw those formerly made for Renton and Rent. The Valley Region-
al Planning Commission will underwrite the printing of this material for dis-
tribution to be ready in time for the governors industrial tour Bast•
-
Xro Robert Fe Beek, President of the Seattle Industrial Council, promoted a
meet interesting review of that organisation and its sins. He also told of a
number of recent additions in the State of Washington„ especially Batelle
Nowrial Institute and the importance this will have to our state.
