HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Planning and Economic Development Committee - 12/03/1968 i VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING DECEMBER 3, 1968 Mr. Iverson read a letter to be sent to each Mayor of the Valley Regional Planning Commission and to King County, regarding bringing the delegation of each cith and the county to full strength of participating members. It was suggested a review of the attendance record of all members be made, and if re-appointment are to be made, perhaps present councilmen or planning commission members be considered. It was mentioned there are a great number of persons in these fields that would be available to serve as VRPC representatives . There was a discussion regarding the relationship between the VRPC and theEast Valley Planning & Coordinating Council . It was felt both organizations should remain autonomous "at the present time, however could work together in future. Mr. Gould requested all mailings regarding the seminar be checked with him for approval . Mr. Pugh or Mr. Iverson will be asked to approve all VRPC minutes. A letter was received from Chicago Milwaukee Railroad asking to become an Associate Member. Mr. Hall stated the associate membership should have some sort of part- icipation in the group. Mr. Klippert said he would compose an outline, stating ways all Associate Members could be advised to participate in the Valley Regional Planning Commission. Mr. Gould, of Algona, requested the VRPC assist in finding accurate maps of the City of Algona. Property that is shown as City property on the present maps, is actually private property on some of the streets in Algona. The boundary review report by Mr. Bicknell was given. It was suggested the planning commissions of Tukwila and Renton, determine where the two cities wanted their boundaries situated. The property owners involved in the transfers, should then be contacted. The VRPC, at that time, would recommend to the State Legislature enactment of a special law to effect a boundary adjustment. Mr. Klippert announced all six of the Legislators have replied to the request to appear at the VRPC General Meeting December 19, 1968, and all have accepted.
