VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION
MINUTES
AUGUST 22, 1968
KENT, WASHINGTON
The General Meeting was called to order at 7:45 P. M., at the
Kent City Hall, Kent, Washington.
Guests were My. Hayes Holman of Auburn School District, Dave
Langly of Radio Station K A S Y, Chuck Stolnaker of Kent-News
Journal, Mrs. Britt and Mrs. Charnell of League of Women Voters
of South King County.
The minutes of the July meeting were accepted and approved as
received.
Letters received from the County Commissioner's Offices
requesting contributions to the VRPC will be given consider-
ation by the Budget Directors during the deliberations on
the 1969 King County Budget.
Gene Williams, Chairman of the Personnel Committee, presented
the Committee's report. It was recommend that the Executive
Director hire his own secretary; $100.00 be allocated for
advertising to be used at the Committes discretion, and that
attemps be made to employ the Executive Director by November
1, 1968. The Personnel Committee consists of Gene Williams,
Chairman, Norman Anderson, Lyle Sandelius, Gordon Gould, Mayor
Robert Gaines, Donald Cowles, Francis Pugh, and Mayor Stanley
Minkler.
Robert Wing, Chairman of the Nominating Committed, presented
its report. Nominations include; Gordon Hall President,
Jan Klippert Vice-President, and Irvin Iverson Secretary-
Treasurer for the coming year of 1969. The election will be
held at the annual meeting, 8:00 P. M. September 26, 1968 at
the Tukwila City Hall, Members of the nominating-committee
were Robert Wing, Baldwin Sammi.s, and Noel Bicknell.
Iry Iverson asked that the industrial lands survey be returned
to the VRPC office.
John Fournier presented a leeter he had received from Einar M.
Syvertsen, Director of Planning, Puget Sound Governmental
Conference, regarding a employment centers planning program. A
copy is attached.
Gordon ould thanked the VRPC for the help that had been given

to the City of Pacific J, assisting them with their Comprehensive
Plan,
Chet Wheeler reported the King County Comprehensive Sewer Plan
has boon authorized.
Charles Baker commended the newspapers for coverage of the
future plans of the Valley Regional Planning Commission.
The meeting adjourned so that individual committees could meet.
The next General. Meeting will be held at the Tukwila City Hall,
on September 26, 1968 at 7:30 P. M.
