HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Planning and Economic Development Committee - 08/13/1968 VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION EXECUTIVE MFLTING AUGUST 13, 1968 The meeting was called to order at 12:20 P. M. at the Hungry Wolf Restaurant. Those in attendence were Francis Pugh, Ndel Bicknell, Gordon Ericksen, Kenneth Weeks, Herb Vetter, John Fournier, Robert Wing, Baldwin Sammis, Gordon.�iduld, Frank Zepp (Representing Mayor Minkler of Tukwila), Gene Williams, Mayor Robert Gaines, Jan Klippert, Don Cowles, Lyle Sandelius, and Helen Irwint The Personnel Committee met with the Executive Committee. The Personnel Committee representatives are Norman Anderson, Gene Williams, Lyle Sandelius, Gordon Gould, Mayor Robert Gaines, Donald Cowlear.Francis Pugh, and Mayor Stanley Minkler. Discussions were held regarding the procedures for hiring an administrator and a secretary for the VRPC. It was announced the administrator be able to follow through on all suggestions, inquiries, request, and committees that may arise for the VRPC. He would be responsible to all member cities and King County, as well as the Executive Committee of the VRPC. It was suggested the job title Executive Director is more in keeping with the job description and responsibilities, than is Administrator: Mr. Gene Williams was appointed chairman of the Personnel Committee. The Committee will give a list of procedures for both positions, at the General Meeting, August 22, 1968. Gordon Ericksen presented the Renton Planning Departments, 1967 Annual Report, : It was his suggestion to have one similar, printed by the VRPC, which would show the public the purpose of the VRPC as well as the history of its past. Jan Klippert announced the meeting of the Association of ',,ashington Cities, Public He4th Committee, to be held at the Washington Athletic Club, Seattle, Washington at 700 P.M. All Mayors with any questions, would be advised to attend. Robert Wing of the Nominating Committee stated his committee will have a report finalized for Nominations at the General Meeting. Gordon Hall announced there will be a Planning Association of Washington Meeting held in Goldendale, Washington on October 4th and 5th. He suggested the VRPC send a represent- ative to this meeting! A meeting has not been established between the County Commissioners and the Mayors of the Valley, to present t9% VRPC program. However, Commissioner O'Brienis seerretary has announced the request f4,r additional funds to help support the VRPC, have been recommended to .the County Budget Committee. no nest General Meeting will be August 22, 1968 in Kent Council Chambers, Kant City Hall) Kent, Washington.
