VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 27, 1968
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 P.M. in the Tukwila
City Hall, Tukwila, Washington on June 27, 1968.
New members from Algona.. Pacific and Auburn were introduced.
The guests from the railroads, school districts,-Washington
Natural Gas and South King County League of Women Voters
were welcomed.
The minutes of •the last meeting were read and approved. A
letter submitted by the South King County League of Women
Voters to the Valley Regional Planning Commission was also
read at the meeting.
Mr. Fred Poe gave a report on the progress between the cities,
highways and railroads regarding railroad crossings. He
said the maps will be made available to the public in the
very near future.
Jan Klippert announced there are now three vacancies on the
Boundary Review Board. He requested members to discuss this
in the cities and if they have any interest in seeing if some
member can be appointed from the VRPC.
There were no speakers, as the meeting was devoted to the
presentation to be given to the Mayors, City Couneila, City
Planning Commissions and other interested parties of the
member cities.
Gordon Hall and Jan Klippert presented slides and reviewed
the program to be presented to Algona, Pacific, Auburn and
Kent on the Sth of July. Renton and Tukwila will see the
presentation on the evening of July 22nd. The members were
asked to attend the program when it was held in their city.
Mr. Baker stated the VRPC is vitally needed in the area, not
just for the cities but for schools, utilities, industry, as.
well as the individual person. It has outgrown the proportions
by which it can be handled on a voluntary basis and needs
professional staff and this is the year we should really
expand. "Lets keep this thing living."
The next meeting will be held in the Auburn City Hall,
Auburn, Washington at 7:30 P.M. on July 25, 1968.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
