VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COM 1ISSION
APRIL 25, 1968
The Valley Regional Planning Commission's General meeting was held at the
Kent City Hall on April 25, 1968.

of April 5-6, This was a meeting of Professional and Members of Planning
Departments from through out the state, held in Wenatchee, Washington, Mr, Hall
and Gordon Ericksen presented slides that were taken of the Conference and
Leavenworth Washington, which received the All-American Cities Award. Literature
brought back from the Conference was on display at the Valley Regional Plan-
ning meeting. This will be added to the VRPC library.
Fred Poe, of Auburn, showed a map of the existing railroad crossings and of
the proposed crossings Franchises for railroad crossings may be delayed until
a valley plan is prepared.

Governmental Oonference, reported on the PSGC activities, The PSGC bulletins
will be sent to our Valley Regional Planning Commission office from now on,
Mr. Talbot Wegg, a Planning Consultant, felt that the VRPC Cities and the
County could work together effecticaly to bring the Codes to a standard level.
He felt all of the codes should be updated.
Mr, Jan Klippert reported on the "We Are Number One" Conference of April 11,1968.
The Conference itself was successful, however, he expressed concern for the
Valley Regional Planning Commision's ability to provide the follow through in
carrying out the ideas expressed in the conference,.
1. Follow-throught ability is directly related to membership, organization,
financing and participation. He inferred that the VRPC needs strength-
ing in each of these areas as they relate to the Valley Regional Planning
Commissions purpose and projects which should be to:
A. Provide a data bank, library and interpretions of such data,
B. Public education,
C. Coordination and integration of studies, plans and projects:
D. Providing data to aid private industry in its economic planning and
governmental units in providing for Public Facilities Planning,
Those attending the meeting generally concurred those observations. Moved by
Poe, seconded by Sammis, that a Committee be formed to study the program and
methods of financing, to report to the Executive Committee, and report back to
the VRPC May 23, meeting. A program Study Committee was formed to study specific
projects and procedures in stregthening the VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING 00hID1ISSIOM,
consisting of:
Gordon Hell, Gordon Ericksen, Pat Hogue, Jan Klippert, Iry Iverson, Fred Poe
Gene Williams and Frank Zepp.
