MINUTES - GENERAL MEETING
N!OVEMBER 13, 1969
Kent City Halt
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 P.M. Mr. Iry
Iverson, First Vice-President, presided over the meeting
in the absence of Gordon Hall , President.
Gordon Ericksen, Renton Planning Director , has been
appointed to serve as Chairman of the Technical Advisory
Committee for the V. R. P. C. . George Schular , Planning
Director of Auburn and James Harris, Planning Director of
Kent, have agreed to serve on this committee also.
Clark Teegarden reported on the progress of the "911 "
program. He had met with Gordon Hall and Mike Ruby, of the
Puget Sound Governmental Conference, to discuss the VRPC' s
participation in the program. There will be several sub-
regional areas considered for further study through out the
Puget Sound Governmental Conference area. VRPC is being
looked on with favor, to conduct the study for the Green
River Valley area.
Ed Nelson reported on the Green River Community College
Conservation Program, that was held recently. It was a very
interesting program attended by many different groups, such
as sportsman, beautification groups, conservationest, and
a land owners group. He felt it was very well handled and
informative.
Gordon Gould suggested the VRPC should conduct their
meetings in the form of work shops.
Representative Paul Barden, suggested the VRPC request
the City of Kent to ask the Washington Utilities and Trans-
portation Committee to conduct a public hearing regarding
the proposal of two at-grade crossings, within the city
limits, on the !hest Valley Highway . A motion was made,
seconded and carried to send a letter to the Mayor and Kent
City Council requesting the city to ask for a public hearing
as soon as possible.

Gordon Ericksen and James Magstad of the Renton Plan-
ning Department, presented a program entitled, "Cedar River
Design Study" . It consisted of a study of the present use
of the Cedar River , potential uses of the river, present
land uses and zoning along the river, as well as existing
and future recreational activities in the area . This study
would be a long range plan for future development of natural
and semi -natural landscaped trails and parks along the Cedar
River, as it flows approximately five miles through the City
of Renton.
The next General Meeting will be held at the Tukwila City
Hall , Oecember 11 , 1969
The meeting adjourned at 9:40 P.M.
