EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
February 18, 1969
The Executive Board meeting was held at the VRPC offices,
Tuesday morning - February 18, 1969.
Mayor Matchett of Algona, sent a letter announcing the
appointment of Mr. James McGough, Chairmans of Algona's
Planning Commission, to serve on the Valley Regional
Planning Commission as a member from Algona.
A letter has been received from Mrs. Donald Hamblin of
Renton, regarding the first seminar held at Green River
Community College;
" Dear Sirs:
I attended the first seminar of the series your organiza-
tion is co-sponsoring on planning. I felt it was of great
value, although there seemed to be a preponderance of
people from the planning field and regrettably few "average"
citizens.
In reviewing the topics of the remaining five seminars, I
think there are areas of concern that have been overlooked;
the prime one being the relation between planning, zoning,
and the tax base or, perhaps, the legal aspects of planning
and zoning. Since the King County Urban Area is one of the
fastest growing relating to planning and urban problems
would be most helpful . No less important would be a resume
of the solutions proposed by the Governor's Advisory Council
on Urban Affairs along with any bills introduced to imple-
ment those proposals.
I appreciate the initative taken by your organization in
sponsoring the seminars on this subject which is of such
great importance to this burgeoning area."
The Executive Board was pleased to receive the above letter,
and would welcome any further comments or opinions regard-
ing the seminars. The next seminar will be held Thursday
the 19th of Feb., at 7:30 P.M. at the Green River Community
College. SUBJECT --- THE HISTORY - BACKGROUND
