EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
February 4, 1969 - VRPC Office
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 A.M. by Gordon Hall,
President. Mr. Pugh requested the pamplet of utility rates
be completed and presented to the member cities as soon as
possible.
Gordon Hall read the letter VRPC is sending to the Boundary
Review Board, with their recommendations regarding the boundary
lines between Auburn and the proposed City of Federal Way.
Their recommendation being that Interstate Highway No. 5
should become the boundary line for the proposed City of
Federal Way. The area between Interstate No. 5 and the pro-
posed boundary of 51st South should not, at the present time
be annexed to either city.
Application for funds through the Highway Safety Program was
discussed. These funds are the most likely funds available
to the VRPC. By providing staff or matching funds, this
could be available in about two months. This type of funding
could also be applied to all eight of the projects the VRPC
now has under study. Dave Van Noose made a motion the VRPC
instruct Ron Thompson to prepare application for State High-
way Safety Funds as soon as possible. This was seconded by
Francis Pugh. A letter will be sent to all Mayors of the
Member cities, telling them of our intent and calling a
meeting to discuss this with them.
Gordon Gould presented his ideas for a series of brochures
to be published by the VRPC. These would be printed in a
Series of three or four seperate brochures.
1 . Purpose, authority, policy, and objectives
2. History, accomplishments, and projects
3. Annual report
4. Plans for future and perhaps another Conference to be
held in the Spring.
The first of these will be available for the General Meeting
of February 27th to be held in Kent City Hall , Kent, Washington.
Barney Wilson, Kent Parks and Recreation Director, has been
appointed the Chairman for the "Green River Conservation
Study' This will involve an area along the Green River on
either side for the purpose of hiking and bicycling trails,
through out the Valley area, George Schuler of Auburn,
announced the State Game Department would be very willing to
assist in this project, Gordon Ericksen, Bryon Sneva, and
Robert Van Siclen are also serving on this committee.
The next Executive Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday
February llth at 7:30 A.M. in the VRPC office. --
