HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Planning and Economic Development Committee - 01/21/1969 VALLEY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING --- JANUARY 21, 1969 VRPC OFFICE ------- 7:30 A. M. Jan Klippert announced the General Meeting of the VRPC would be held Wednesday evening January 22nd at the Puget Sound Governmental Conference Office. The VRPC would be interested in exploring the possibility of working more closely with the PSGC in the Valley area. Ron Thompson said he has been studying the area and the problems in the Valley. He is investigating several different projects at the present time as well as extra funding for them. He will have have a written report ready within the next two weeks. Six items for immediate study were listed for further study by the VRPC. The are as follows: 1 . Analysis of needed capital improvement on South 180th Street. 2. Review of the Renton - Tukwila boundary line adjustment.. 3. Analysis of protected Kent - Auburn boundary line. 4. Continuance of the Railroad Crossing Study. 5. Analysis of the "Island Annexation Law". 6. The study of recent court decisions regarding Mobile Home and Single Residence zoning. Jack Burgeson has been appointed chairman of the committee investigating the improvements of South 180th Street. Dave Van Hoose is chairman of the Mobile Home study. Reports of all meetings as well as the results of each study will be forwarded to the Mayors and City Councils of all the member cities. Dave Van Hoose will give a progress report of selection of chairman for the remaining items for study, at the Executive meeting of January 28th. Gordon Hall , reported he spoke at a Planning Workship, held by the League of Women Voters of King County on the 14th of Jan. It was a very interesting and informative session. Gordon Gould reported on the progress of the seminar to be held. Another brochure will be mailed Friday - Jan. 24th, having more information regarding the seminar. Mr. Rawhide Papritz of Green River Community College has been asked to attend the next Excutive Committee meeting to let the Hoard know how the seminar is progressing. Gordon Gould also displayed a rough draft of a brochure of VRPC 1968 activities. The next Executive Committee meeting will be held January 28, 1969 at the VRPC Office --- 7:30 A.M. Several projects and other items requiring your decision are on the agenda. Please come early.
