Park Orchard Elementary School has agreed to give the Society a replica log cabin (constructed for the State Bicentennial) which must be moved .from their .grounds _to ma ke way for a new playfield. The log cabin is approximately the size of a portable classroom. It currently has no power or bathroom facilities. Ms. Van Nest has proposed that this cabin, once moved to a new location and provided with power and possibly a water/sewer connection, house a satellite museum. Ms. Van Nest is interested in pursuing City assistance for moving the cabin and siting it on City property in downtown Kent. Apparently the downtown community has voiced interest in a museum and Linda believes she may have docents available to staff such a facility. Possible museum sites might include the Burlington Green (near the gazebo) or the municipal parking lot adjacent to the new Kent library. Ms. Van Nest will present her proposal at your meeting on September 17. Action requested is direction to staff regarding this request.
