McCormick, Casey Ellis, Lori Brown, and Joe Sams
The following items were discussed:

motor running. The truck slipped the emergency
brake and ran into the back of a van and a parked
station wagon.

preventable.
PUBLIC WORKS
Incident: While transporting a back hoe, the air line on a
trailer broke, causing the trailer brakes to lock-
up and the truck to separate.
Comments: The Committee felt that the operator did not
properly check the vehicle snap ring. Any operator
should check this before operating a vehicle. The
Department will be advised.
PUBLIC WORKS
Incident: Employee was using Epolux cleaner to clean a paint
roller and got the cleaner on ,hands. The cleaner
burned the skin.
Comments: No MSDS sheet had been received on this product
prior to use. However, the Committee did not seem
to feel that this would have prevented this
particular accident.
PUBLIC WORKS
Incident: A jackhammer bit got stuck in the asphalt, employee
strained neck while trying to remove it.
Comments: The Committee seemed to feel that this was a

FIRE
Incident: Emergency brake was not properly set and car rolled
into a City of Kent vehicle.
Comments: The Committee felt that it had inadequate
information to make a determination in this
particular incident
CUSTOMER SERVICES
Incident: Employee had microwaved an already hard boiled egg.
When the employee bit into the egg it burst,
injuring the employee's cheek.
Comments: The Committee determined that this was a
preventable accident and recommended that hard
boiled egg be punctured or split in two prior to
microwaving. It was also recommended that a
warning be placed on the microwave oven in the
Lunchroom.
FIRE

employee's car and hit the side of the car.

The Committee also had a question regarding whether
or not the car was in a properly marked parking

Other items that were discussed consisted of the continuing
problem of double parking in the parking lot next to the
Engineering Building. The Committee also considered developing a
safety project for 1989, designed to publicize the issue of
safety in the work place.
