COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Connie Epperly,Julie Peterson,Rico Yingling
The meeting was called to order by Chair Connie Epperly at 5:08 PM. Chair Epperly asked if
there were any items to be added to the agenda,there were none.
Approval of Minutes of July 8,2003
Committee Member Rico Yingling moved to approve the minutes of the July 8,2003 meeting.
The motion was seconded and passed 3-0.
Addendum Four and Extension to Contract for Services with Valley Medical Center
Occupational Health Services(OHS)and City of Kent Corrections Facility(CKCF)from
08/01/03 through 12/31/03—Authorize for Mayor's Signature
Deputy Chief of Police Chuck Miller and Assistant City Attorney Patrick Fitzpatrick stated that
there were no increased fees with the extension of the contract. Negotiations are in progress with
a new health care provider with experience in jail systems that would begin at the end of this
contract.
Julie Peterson moved to recommend that this item be placed on the Consent Calendar for
the August 19,2003 Council Meeting authorizing the Mayor to sign Addendum Four and
Extension to Contract for Services with Valley Medical Center Occupational Health
Services(OHS). The motion was seconded and passed 3-0.
Application for Local Law Enforcement Block Grant(LLEBG)Program FY2003 by Police
-Approve
Deputy Chief of Police Chuck Miller briefly reviewed the grant application and its planned uses.
Rico Yingling moved to recommend that this item be placed on the Consent Calendar of the
August 19,2003 Council Meeting authorizing the Kent Police Department to apply for the
FY2003 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant(LLEBG). The motion was seconded and
passed 3-0.
Update on King County Advanced Life Support(ALS)Feasibility Study-Informational
Fire Chief Jim Schneider informed the members that transport costs for Basic Life Support
services can be legally recovered and that this issue will be taken to the Council later this year.
He provided updated information on the ALS Feasibility Study and will continue to provide
monthly updates to the Committee.
The meeting adjourned at 5:35 PM.
