HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Public Works/Planning - 07/18/2005PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MINUTES July 18, 2005 COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: Committee Chair Bruce White and Committee Members Ron Harmon and Debbie Raplee. The meeting was called to order at 5:05 P.M. Approval of Minutes Dated June 20, 2005 Committee Member Ron Harmon moved to approve the minutes of June 20, 2005. The motion was seconded by Debbie Raplee and passed 3-0. Central Avenue Green River Bridge Interlocal Agreement with King County Mark Howlett, Design Engineering Supervisor said this agreement established King County as the lead agency for the cleaning and repainting of the Central Ave. Green River Bridge and gives them authority to perform work within the City limits of Kent. No City or County money will be used for the project it is 100% federal participation. Debbie Raplee moved to recommend authorizing the Mayor to sign an Interlocal Agreement with King County for cleaning and repainting of the Central Avenue South Green River Bridge subject to the City Attorney and Public Works Director’s concurrence of the language therein. The motion was seconded by Ron Harmon and passed 3-0. Street Vacation for a Portion of Cedar Street East of Hazel Avenue Gary Gill, City Engineer said a valid petition to vacate a portion of Cedar Street has been received by Public Works Department. The Public Works Department recommends adoption of a resolution setting the public hearing date for September 6, 2005. Ron Harmon moved to recommend Council adoption of a resolution setting a public hearing date of September 6, 2005 for the Street Vacation located along a portion of Cedar Street east of Hazel Avenue. The motion was seconded by Debbie Raplee and passed 3-0. Soos Creek Water and Sewer – Sewer Easement Beth Tan, Environmental Engineer said this will grant Soos Creek Water and Sewer District an easement for an existing sewer line. This is regarding the Meridian Valley Creek Realignment Project. Debbie Raplee moved to recommend authorizing the Mayor to sign a sewer easement granting Soos Creek Water and Sewer District rights across City of Kent property upon concurrence of the language therein by the City Attorney and the Public Works Director. The motion was seconded by Ron Harmon and passed 3-0. King Conservation District Grant Mike Mactutis, Environmental Engineering Manager said the grant in the amount of $40,000 will be used to fund an independent consultant to support the City of Kent’s effort, on behalf of the Watershed Resource Inventory Area 9 (WRIA 9). Ron Harmon moved to recommend authorizing the Mayor to sign the King Conservation District Grant for 2005, in the amount of $40,000, directing staff to 2 accept the grant and establishing a budget for the funds to be spent within said project. The motion was seconded by Ron Harmon and passed 3-0. West Nile Virus Presentation Jefferson Davis, Environmental Engineering and Scott Schroeder, Public Works Operations presented the West Nile Virus 2005 Outlook. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 P.M.
