OPERATIONS COMMITTEE MINUTES
FEBRUARY 1, 2005
Committee Members Present: Acting Chair, Julie Peterson and Bruce White
Chair Tim Clark was absent from the meeting.
The meeting was called to order by Acting Chair Julie Peterson, Chair at 4:06 p.m.

3. BUDGET CHANGE FOR FIREFIGHTERS' CONTRACT
Finance Manager Bob Nachfinger presented the Budget Change for Firefighters' Contract. Mr.
Nachlinger advised. that the Firefighter's contract was approved by City Council at its regular
meeting on January 1.8, 2005. This budget change Increases the budget to agree with. the terms
of the contract. General Fund expenditures increased by $294,36 1, reducing budgeted ending
fund balance. Mr. Nachlinger stated that when the 2005 budget was in developnient, the
salaries and benefits for Firefighters were estimated assuraing a COLA equivalent to 100%
CPI, and healthcare contributions by employees equivalent to 10% of the total prem.iuni. The
budget also assumed normal increases based. on progression through the salary plan and
longevity based on tenure. The contract as agreed exceeds the estimated and.budgeted costs by
$294,361. This budget change recognizes those costs as previously unbudgeted and adds them
to the Fire Department.
Bruce White moved to recommend the Council approve the budget.change related to the
FirefirAters' contract, iucreashig floe General Fund budget by $ 294,361. Julie Peterson

Assistant Finance Director Cliff Craig presented the 2004 4"' Quarter Financial Report, wliicti
included a Power Point presentation, As this Report was for informational purposes only, no
action.was required..
