January 26, 1998
The meeting of the Kent Land Use and Planning Board was called to order by Chair Brad Bell at
7.00 p in on Monday, January 26, 1998, in Council Chambers of Kent City Hall.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Board member Jon Johnson MOVED and Ron Harmon SECONDED a motion to approve the
November 24, 1997 minutes. Motion carried
ADDED ITEMS TO THE AGENDA
None.
COMMUNICATIONS
Planning Director Jim Harris explained to the Board members that the Downtown Plan sent to the
City Council in June 1997 was still in the process of being developed Mr Harris announced the
changes in the structuring of the committees. He said the Planning Committee has been deleted and
a new committee "Public Works and Planning" has been formed. Tim Clark is the chair with Judy
Woods and Tom Brotherton as members.

Mr Harris expressed his desire to move the Downtown plan process along as quickly as possible in
order to carry this before the City Council. This will allow the Downtown plan to be heard before
the "Committee as a Whole". Mr. Harris said this is a newly formed committee chaired by Leona
Orr and attended by all Council members It is held the first Tuesday of the month at 5 30 p.m. Mr.
Harris announced that the Planning Committee voted on a south station rail site location

INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS
Chair Brad Bell introduced two new Land Use and Planning Board members, Jon Johnson and
Terry Zimmerman. The new members replace Jerry Daman and Tom Brother-ton.
Jon Johnson introduced himself to the Land Use and Planning Board. He stated that he formerly
served on the City Council for 20 years and was a member of the Planning Commission from 1976
to 1978. He is married with three children
Terry Zimmerman introduced herself to the Land Use and Planning Board. She said that she serves
• as an outreach coordinator for Valley Medical Center in Renton Ms. Zimmerman explained that
she is responsible for children's and women's programs as well as involved in community outreach
She is a single parent of two boys She resides in Carriage Row condominiums on West Hill. She
is President of South King County's Council of Human Services and has been involved in human
service programs in South King County for six years.
ADJOURNMENT
Steve Dowell MOVED and David Malik SECONDED a motion to adjourn. Motion carried. The
meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
