Chair Pattison called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. I. COMMISSION BUSINESS: None ll. HEARINGS: None III. OLD BUSINESS A. Accept into Record 1. Chair Pattison moved to approve the minutes from the June 15, 1995 Civil Service Commission Meeting. Seconded and carried. 2. Chair Pattison moved to approve the Corrected Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility List. Seconded and carried. ' IV. NEW BUSINESS A. Approval and Accept into Record 1. Chair Pattison moved to approve the memo dated January 23, 1995 from Chief Crawford announcing the promotion of Corrections Officer Timothy Lontz to the position of Corrections Sergeant, effective January 26, 1995. Seconded and carried. 2. Chair Pattison moved to approve the memo dated June 8, 1995 from Fire Chief Angelo notifying the Commission that Kent Knight's provisional appointment to the rank of Lieutenant will conclude on June 13, 1995. Seconded and carried. 3. Chair Pattison moved to approve the memo dated June 8, 1995 from Fire Chief Angelo advising the Commission that Firefighter Brian Dodge has been promoted to Probationary Fire Lieutenant effective June 16, 1995. Seconded and carried. 4. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated June 16, 1995 from Police Chief Crawford To Captain David A. Everett notifying him that he has passed his probationary period effective June 16, 1995. Seconded and carried. 5. Chair Pattison moved to approve the Certification letter dated June 26, 1995 establishing the Eligibility List for Entry Level Corrections Officer. Seconded and carried. 6. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated July 8, 1995 from Probationary Police Officer Young Woo Lee resigning his position effective July 8, 1995. Seconded and carried. Page two Civil Service Minutes \ July 20, 1995 7. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated July 12, 1995 to Lt. Cline from Lateral Police Officer candidate Eric S. Armstrong withdrawing from the selection process due to accepting a position with Auburn Police Department. Seconded and carried. 8. Chair Pattison moved to approve the Certified letter dated July 14, 1995 from the Civil Service Chief Examiner to Eric S. Armstrong acknowledging his letter and advising him of his removal from the Lateral Police Officers Eligibility List. Seconded and carried. 9. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated July 14, 1995 from Chief Crawford to Mr. Gary R. Whitmore confirming his appointment as Probationary Police Officer effective August 1, 1995. Seconded and carried. 10. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated July 17, 1995 from Chief Crawford to Mr. Michael J. O'Reilly confirming his appointment as Probationary Police Officer effective September 16, 1995, 1995. Seconded and carried. 11. Chair Pattison moved to approve the letter dated July 17, 1995 from Chief Crawford to Ms. Barbara S. Leech confirming her appointment as Probationary Police Officer effective September 16, 1995, 1995. Seconded and carried. B. Action Items for Discussion 1. Chair Pattison opened for discussion the memo dated June 28, 1995 from Lt. Cline requesting that the Police Lieutenants Eligibility List be extended for six months. This would take the list to February 15, 1996 the full eighteen months allowed under the Civil Service Rules. The Chief Examiner explained that this was the normal time allowed for the extension of a promotional list. Chair Pattison then moved to approve the memo and accept it into record. Seconded and carried. 2. Chair Pattison opened for discussion the memo dated July 7, 1995 from Lt. Cline requesting that Joe Hertrich be removed from the Entry Level Police Officers Eligibility list due to the fact that he did not pass the background portion of the selection process. Chief Crawford stated that it is necessary that Mr. Hertrich be removed. Chair Pattison then moved to approve the memo and accept it into record. Seconded and carried. 3. Chair Pattison opened for discussion the memo dated July 7, 1995 from Lt. Cline requesting that the Police Records Specialist Eligibility List be extended for six months. This would take the list to February 3, 1996, the full eighteen months allowed under the Civil Service Rules. There being no discussion Chair Pattison then moved to approve the memo and accept it into record. Seconded and carried 4. Chair Pattison opened for discussion the memo dated July 11, 1995 from Battalion Chief Scott requesting permission to begin the selection process for Entry Level Firefighter. • Page three \� Civil Service Minutes July 20, 1995 The Civil Service Examiner explained that the Fire Department normally start their selection process following the Labor Day Holiday each year and that B/C Scott had called her to put the request on the Agenda. There being no further discussion Chair Pattison then moved to approve the memo and accept it into record. Seconded and carried There being no other business to come before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 8:11 a.m. The next Regular Meeting will be held on Thursday, August 17, 1995 at 8:00 a.m. in Council Chambers West.
