RE: KPD Case #92-06459 / VSRB #92-2
On Monday, October 17, 1 had occasion to meet with Officer McVicar
relevant to his collision at James and West Valley ',Hwy. UP
The three recommendations listed in point #6 of the VSRB' s report
were reviewed with McVicar. Recommendation #1 was completed after
a total review of the incident.
Recommendation #2 (ride-along) is presently being scheduled between
Sgt. Quackenbush (McVicar's sergeant) and Sgt. Woods (EVOC
instructor) . This ride-along will occur on a Friday once Sgt.
Woods has completed EVOC training.
• Recommendation #3 resulted in the following findings. I reviewed
all police collisions back to 1987 and discovered that Officer
McVicar has had two other accidents:
1. On 10-28-91, he was involved in a collision in a double left
turn lane on South 240th at 108th Ave.
2 . On 3-27-92 , he accidently impacted a vertical rod near the gate
of the animal shelter at 64th and 216th.
Once recommendation #2 has been completed, I recommend no further
sanctions. However, given another incident, stronger sanctions may
be in order.
