CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
OCTOBER 12, 1989

The meeting was called to order at 2 : 30 p.m. by Chairman Jarvis.
Chairman Jarvis informed those present that the purpose of the
meeting is to begin the hiring process for the Secretary/Examiner
position.
Chairman Jarvis moved that the Commission open for hiring, the
position of Secretary/Chief Examiner, initially to all City
Employees living within the city limits as a part-time, potentially
full time position in the future, using the same process that was
used the last time the position was filled, for a period of 2
weeks. In the event there are no qualified applicants, the
Commission shall proceed and open the position to anyone living
within the city limits for a period of 2 weeks.
Sandra Driscoll, City Attorney, clarified for the Commission that
it is not necessary that City Employees applying for the position
live within the city limits.
Chairman Jarvis amended his motion to eliminate the reference to
living within the city limits for City Employees interested in the
position.
Commissioner Thornton seconded the motion. Motion carried.
There being no further business, Chairman Jarvis adjourned the
meeting at 1: 04 p.m.
