After careful consideration of • attributes of both careers, I have opted to accept the offer: It is unfortunate that I cannot give longer notice, but the position begins the first of July. I apologize for the inconvienience that the short notice will cause to the supervisory and line staff. I do, however, fully intend to keep my commitment to Ofc. Wong to teach the Department's First Aid and CPR refresher classes this summer. I have enough leave time accrued to keep me on the books as an employee through the months of July and August, so on those days, I ' ll come back to "work" the day. Thank you for giving me the approval originally to go on this loan assign- ment. The working conditions, responsibility, and mental stimulation were a great opportunity to show my skills and abilities, Sincerely, CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION' AUG 2 1 1989 Officer Mark E. My 6+ years of employment here has been a period rich with professional challenges and personal accomplishments . Thank you for providing the opportunity for this experience . CIVkI #VICE COMMISSION • AUG 2 ' 1989 i CITY OF VW1 = Chief Rod Frederiksen Kent Police Dept. 220 4th Avenue South Kent, wA 98032 August 17, 1989 Dear Chief; This letter is to formally inform you that I am resigning as Public Education Specialist for the Police Dept. Public Education Unit (formerly Task Force and Crime Prevention Units) . My last day of employment will be August 31, 1989 (two weeks from this date. ) I must tell you that this decision has been a difficult one; I have enjoyed my work with the Kent Police Dept. immensely, and will find it difficult to leave all my professional peers and . friends here. However, I have accepted the position of Program Coordinator with the City of Bellevue ' s DWI Task Force and will begin work there Sept. 1st. This resignation comes after much deliberation; I feel compelled to tell you that it is only due to striving for new career challenges and wishing to relocate soon (our first, home) to the Eastside that urges me to this decision. I only hope that I find the Police Administration in my new position as professional and as caring about their employees as you have been. I will continue to work on the 1989-90 Design Contest planing as well as other task areas prior to my departure. Thank you for all the professional training and work opportunities you have given to me in the last (nearly) three years since my hire. I feel it is a tremendous reflection of the caliber of people working in the Kent Police Dept. that I was selected for this position.
