April 18, 1979
The monthly meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Commissioner
T. Richard Ried. Also in attendance were Commissioner Donald Whitener
and Chief Skewes.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of March 14, 1979.
Motion carried.
The memo from City Attorney Mirk regarding veteran's preferance was read
and accepted into the records.
The letter from the Human Rights Commission was brought up for discussion.
Chief Skewes reported that all agencies and their departments involved
indicated they are not going to respond to the Letter and recommended to the
Commission not to respond. A motion was made and seconded to not respond
to the communication from the Human Rights Commission. Motion carried.
A motion was made and seconded to accept the Letter from James M. Blodgett,
police candidate, requesting removal of his name from the Law Enforcement
Eligibility List. Motion carried.
The letter from Officer James Towne and reply from Chief Skewes were
read. Action on this matter was postponed until the May meeting.
The letter from Firefighter David Thatcher was read. Action was postponed
until the May meeting.
The meeting went into executive session.
After the meeting resumed, a motion was made and seconded to remove the
names of Mark T. Wuesthoff and Michael J. Mikesell from the Law Enforce-
ment Eligibility List. Motion carried.
Chief Skewes reported that Mark E. Gustafson will be starting employment on
Monday, April 23.
Chief Skewes distributed a survey of "No Shows" for the last Law Enforcement
examination.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 17, 1979, 8:00 a.m, at Station 1.
Meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
