The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held on
June 23, 1977. 'Present were Ken Yahn, Norwood Cunningham, John
Selig and Lt. Boudreau.
The minutes of the special meeting were approved.
A motion was made and approved to have the commission send a
letter to the City of Kent commending Mrs. Mauritsen for her
14yz years as Secretary and Chief Examiner.
A letter was read from Hilder Mullen expressing an interest in
the commission and hoping they will maintain the highest standards
in hiring a new Secretary and Chief Examiner.
The commission decided that they will conduct an oral interview
with each applicant for the position of Secretary and Chief
Examiner. Qualifications will include: typing at 40 W.P.M.,
shorthand or speedwriting preferred, must be a resident of the
City of Kent, High school graduate or equivalent, 2 years
experience in office and clerical work with added training
desirable and that all application forms must be signed and
complete with turned in to the City Clerk's office.
An advertisement will be placed in the Kent News-Journal to run
Sunday, June 26th and Wednesday, June 29th. Closing date will
be July 8, 1977.
A motion was made and approved to certify the Eligibility List
for Law Enforcement Officer as follows:
R. Price
D. Straight
J. DuVall
S. Ohlde
A motion was made and approved to recognize the position of
Division Commander as an appointment by the Chief of Police
and not subject to the Rules and Regulations.
The commission members suggested that an appropriate insignia
be used for the position of Division Commander.
The next meeting will be July 28, 1977 at 8 A.M. in the confer-
ence room in the Police Department.
