HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 05/26/1977 Civil Service Commission Minutes l The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held on May 26, 1977. Present were Ken Yahn, Norwood Cunningham, Chief Foster, Chief Skewes, Deputy Chief Freelove and two applicants for the Law Enforcement Officer exam, Jackie Yaughn and Don Winters. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A;letter was read from Ms. Vaughn and Mr. Winters submitting a formal complaint from the action by the Secretary and Chief Exami- ner in rejecting their applications because they were incomplete. Ms. Vaughn had neglected to sign her application and Mr. Winters had not completed the education section. There was a discussion as to the notice that was stapled to each application form stating that all applications must be complete and that incomplete applica- tions would be rejected and applicants notified after the closing date for applications. After questions were asked by the applicants and answere& by the commission members, a motion was made and approved to deny the protest. The essay and oral interview portions of the exam were discussed. Detective Everett informed the commission members of the format used for the physical agility test. The physical agility will be held on June 4, 1977. A letter was read from Mrs. Mauritsen submitting her resignation from the position of Secretary and Chief Examiner, effective on June 30, 1977. The next meeting is scheduled for June 23, 1977. There will possibly be a special meeting to discuss filling the position of Secretary and Chief Examiner. Meeting adjourned.
