HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 04/28/1977 CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION MINUIM The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held on April 28, 1977. Present were Ken Yahn, Norwood Cunningham, Chief Skewes, Chief Foster and City Attorney Mirk. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A motion was made and approved to allow the probationary Law Enforcement Officer Eligibility List to expire as of this date. A motion was made and approved to hold a written test for the position of probationary Law Enforcement Officer the week of May 30, 1977. The closing date for applications will be 5 P.M. on May 13, 1977. A motion was made and approved that the testing procedure will be as follows: All eligible candidates will be notified to take a written objective test, which will count as 25% of the total score. The top 40 scorers will proceed to the physical agility. In case of a tie, all persons scoring the lowest score of the 40 will proceed. Those passing the physical agility on a pass/fail casis will be eligible for the Oral Interview, which will count as 50% of the total score. Those candidates who receive a score of 70% or better on the Oral Interview will submit a resume and complete a written essay examination as administered by the commission. This shall count 25% of the total score. For those candidates passing the above procedures, the polygraph examination, the interniew with the clinical Psychologist, and the LEFF medical examination will be judged on a pass/fail basis. A motion was made and approved to amend Rule XII, Section 1, "PROCEDURE", by adding a new sentence to the section to read: If the vacancy is to be filleda_by original appointment to the position of either Probationary Law Enforcement Officer or Pro- bationary Firefighter, the Secretary and Chief Examiner shall certify the names of the top three eligibles on the appropriate list and the Chief of the Department shall have the option of selecting any one of those top three for the position.
