The regulars meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held
on Oct. 28, 1976. Present were Hal Cline, Ken Yahn, Norwood
Cunningham, Chief Skewes and Deputy Chief Freelove.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
The Eligibility List for Law Enforcement Officer was presented
by Mrs. Mauritsen. Motion was made and seconded to approve
the list subject to the background check on the applicanks.
Motion carried.
A letter was read from Gary Otheim requesting a waiver from
the age maximum for firefighter. A motion was made and seconded
to deny the request on the basis that it is established policy
due to LEFF requirements and there is no justification for
changing it. Motion carried.
Mrs- Mauritsen reported on the entrance police test project
now underway by the Association of Washington Cities and the
Washington P61ice Chiefs and Sheriffs Association. Capt. Grant
and Mrs. Mauritsen are attending a workshop in Olympia on
Friday. A motion was made and seconded to authorize the pay-
ment of any expense incurred by Mrs. Mauritsen. Motion carried.
Chief Skewes reported on the current status of the police clerks
A motion was made and seconded to approve the written exam for
firefighter as proposedaby Chief Foster and Mrs. Mauritsen.
Motion carried. The proposed outline for the physical agility,
assessment lab and oral interview was presented by Chief Free-
love. A motion was made and seconded to approve it as presented.
Motion carried.
Hal Cline is resigning effective Dec. 1, as he is being transferred
to Tacoma.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, Nov 18, 1976, at 8 A.M.
in the Fire Station. This is a week early due to Thanksgiving.
