The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was
held on Jan, 29, instead of Jan 22, as scheduled, due to the
illness of the secretary. Present were Hal Cline, Norwood
Cunningham, Ken Yahn, Chief Foster, Deputy Chief Freelove,
Asst, Chief Berg and Chief McQuery.
A motion was made and seconded to amend the minutes of the
previous meeting to delete the names of Ken Yahn and Chief
McQuery as having attended the meeting. Motion carried.
The minutes were approved as amended.
Copies of letters were received from Officer Ronald Haysom
and Chief McQuery concerning a request from Officer Haysom
for a leave of absence without pay for personal reasons ,
and the approval of the request according to the Civil
Service Rules and Regulations.
A motion was made and seconded directing the chairman to
write to City Administrator Street requesting him to con-
tact other cities for copies of their methods of selecting
the chief of the police and fire departments. Motion carried.
Copies of the Police Department Rules and Regulations were
received by the commission members and were discussed.
The next meeting was set tentatively for Feb. 19, 1976.
Meeting adjourned.
