HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 06/23/1965 June 23 , 1965 The regular meeting of the Kent Civil Service Commission, Fire, postponed from June 3, was held on June 23, in the office of the Chairman of the Commission. Present were the Chairman, Don Bell, Jr. , Harold Goedecke, John MacGregor, and Fire Chief Bridges. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A motion was made and seconded to amend the Rules and Regulations as follows: RULE EX EXAMINATIONS Section 2. "QualiPYin� Grade" :The relative weight of each examination subject shall be fixed by the Commission previous to date of examination and the papers shall be graded accordingly. In all examinations the minimum grade or standing shall be flexible in order to allow the Commission to judge the needs of the Classified Service and shall be set for each examination. Such final grade shall be based upon all factors of the examination, including educational requirements; if applicable; training, experience, and other qualifying elements as shown in the application of the candidate or other verified information. Failure in one part of an examination may be grounds for declaring the applicant as failing in the entire examination, or as disqualified for subsequent parts of an examination. Motion passed. A motion was made and seconded to set the minimum passing grade of the Firemen's examinations including the Chief and Assistant Chief, at 65%. Motion passed. A motion was made and seconded to certify the Eligibi- lity lists for the Fire Department as follows : Chief: Thames Foster Gale Randall Paul McNiel Assistant: Gale Randall Thomas Foater1 Fireman 1st Grade: Albert Sells John He6kel James Smail Donald Bridge Glenn Webster Alvin Simms Sidney Mickelson Fireman 2nd Grade Marvin Berg Arnold Bryant Robert See Larry Storment Laurnece Sebree Motion passed. A motion was made and seconded to post the results of the Fireman's Examinations in the Fire Station and the City Hall, and to deliver a copy to the Mayor. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned.
