The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was held
on Dec. 22, 1975. Present were Hal Cline, Norwood Cunningham,
Ken Yahn, Chief Foster and Chief Mc Query.
On The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
A letter from City Attorney Don Mirk was read, giving his
recommendation that the City of Kent must conform to the
R.C. W. which states that the probationary period is to be a
period of three to six months . A motion was made and seconded
to change the probationary period from 12 months to 6 months.
Motion carried. This applies to Rule VII, Section 1 (3) on
page 11 , Rule VII, Section 10 (3 ) on page 14 and Rule XIII,
Section 1 on page 25. A motion was made and seconded to amend
the lst sentence of Rule XIII, Section 1 to read : No person
shall be appointed to permanent employment status or to a
permanent promotional position until he has satisfactorily
served a probationary period of six (6 ) months. Motion carried.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the Firefighter
Eligibility List submitted by Chief Freelove, Examiner Pro
Tem, as follows :

Motion carried.
The commission asked that Chief Freelove send a memo to the
commission stating that 3 of the applicants eligible for the
physical agility did not turn in their score sheets as
directed and list their names. The secretary and chief
examiner was directed to purchase a date received stamp for
the use of the commission. The application form and commission
letter head will be re-done by the chairman and the secretary
and presented to the commission for approval .
The next meeting will be Thursday, Jan 22 at 8 A .M. at the
Fire Station.
