The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was
held on Nov. 25, 1975. Present were Hal Cline, Norwood
Cunningham, Ken Yahn, Asst. Chief Bryant and Chief Mc Query.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
A motion was made and seconded to elect Hal Cline as
the new chairman. Motion carried.
A motion was made and seconded to request an opinion, in
writing, from Attorney Don Mirk, concerning the proba-
tionary period, before the next meeting. Motion carried.
An appeal to Superior Court from Officer William Nirk
was received by the commission on Nov. 7. The necessary
transcripts will be provided to the court thru the City
Attorney s office.
There are 295 applicants at this date for the firefighter
entrance exam scheduled for Dec. 3, 4 and 5. The
secretary and chief examiner notified the commission that
her son-in-law is among the applicants and this dis-
qualifies her from acting as chief examiner. A motion
was made and seconded to designate Deputy Chief Freelove
as examiner pro-tem for this examination. Motion carried.
After discussion of who might be allowed to monitor
oral interviews, a motion was made and seconded to not
allow any observers other than commission members during
oral interviews. Motion carried.
Chief Mc(Auery informed the commission that Officer
Donald Fadden hasbW granted permanent disability.
Copies of an article on an Assessment Lab program to
test Fire Department officer candidates were passed out
to the commission. This is a new type of testing proce-
dure being tried out in some cities.
The next meeting will be Monday. Dec. 22, 1975 at 8 A.M..
in the Main Fire Station.
