The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was
held on July 24. Present were Warren Bell , Ken Yahn,
Chief Foster, Capt. Fronsdahl , Asst. Chief Berg, Deputy
Chief Freelove and Sgt. Jilbert .
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
A letter was read from the Consulting Selection Center
confirming that the Police Selection study will be done.
A motion was made and seconded to confirm our taking part
in the study. Motion carried.
A letter was read from the Firefighter Pension Board
concerning the physical fitness program presently being
started in the department. The letter and a copy of the
physical fitness program will be on file in the commission
office.
A letter was read from Firefighter Somerville asking that
he be given credit for his volunteer time toward his 1st
Class rank. A motion was made to approve his request.
Motion carried.
A letter was read from Police Officer Lahti stating that
he is resigning effective July 24, 1975•
The secretary and chief examiner was directed to proceed
with an entrance Law Enforcement examination.
The commission reviewed and discussed the written test
for Police Clerlj. A motion was made to approve using the
test, as it has not been given since Feb. 28, 1973, and
there is nothing in the Rules and Regulations that the
test must be changed. Motion carried.
The commission reviewed the written test for Firefighter
Mechanic as prepared by Asst. Chief Berg and the chief
examiner. They asked Chief Foster to review the test.
A motion was made to approve the written test. Motion
carried. A motion was made to approve a minimum passing
score for the Firefighter Mechanic of 70%o and direct that
only the top 20 scorers on the written test will proceed
to the rest of the exam. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be Thursday August 28 at 8 A.M.
at the Fire Station.
