The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was
held on June 26, 1975. Present were Hal Cline, Ken Yahn,
Chief Foster, Deputy Chief Freelove, Chief McRuery and
Officer Haysom.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
Letters were read from the Selection Consulting Center
and Stephen Wollack concerning the Police Selection
Project. The commission decided to delay any decision
until more information is available as to whether the
project will be carried through.
A motion was made that the weights for the police clerk
examination will be written 50% and oral interview 50%,
and that the lowest passing score will be 70% but only
the top 20 scorers on the written will proceed to the
oral interview. Motion carried.
A motion was made to amend Rule VIII Section 1 title
to read "Probationary Firefighter/Probationary Fire-
Fighter Mechanic". Motion carried. A motion was made
to authorize the secretary and chief examiner to proceed
with a firefighter mechanic examination with the weights
to be ; written 40,%, oral interview 40;$ and practical
mechanics 20,%, and to authorize Chief Foster to work with
the secretary and chief examiner to prepare the written
examination. Motion carried.
A motion was made that 1st Class Firefighter exams are
to be given to Firefighters Hertlein, Sommerville, Webb
and Svenvold before July 15, 1975. Motion carried.
A motion was made to distribute the new Rules and
Regulations as follows : Fire Department 9, Police Depart-
ment 9, each commissioner 1 , Secretary 1 , City Clerk 1 ,
Kent Library 1 , City Attorney 1 , City Administrator 1 ,
City Personnel Director 1. Motion carried.
The meetings of the commission will be held on the 4th
Thursday of each month with the next meeting to be July
24, 1975.
