The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission was
held on Jan, 21 , 1975, Present were Warren Bell , Hal Cline,
Ken Yahn, Chief McQuery, Chief Foster and Bill Smull from
the Kent . News Fournal .
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
The previous hearing for Mrs. Dorman' s appeal set for
Jan. 17, 1975 had been postponed because two of the commi-
ssioners could not be there for the whole hearing. Mrs.
Dorman was called during the meeting to find out if a new
date of Jan. 29 at 4 P.M. was satisfactory to her. She
stated that it was. A motion was made and seconded to set
a new hearing for that time. Motion carried.
A demand for an investigation of the reasons for his
dismissal was received on Jan. 16, 197� from Randee Kerns.
A motion was made and seconded to set tentative dates for
the hearing on Feb. 5 or Feb. 19, depending on when Mr.
Cline would be able to attend. Motion carried. The
secretary will notify the members as soon as possible.
A letter was read from Sydelle Thompson stating that seh
was resigning as a clerk in the Police Department , effective
on Jan. 24, 1975. Lt . Larry Loveless has been appointed
to the position of Chief of the Ellensburg Police Department.
A letter from him was read, requesting a leave of absence
for four months. The secretary and chief examiner has
approved the request as per the Rules and Regulations .
Probationary Firefighter Todd Oleson has resigned from
the department . Dennis Mayo , the next man on the Eligi-
bility List will not accept the position at this time.
It will be offered to Robert Jennings. He is the last
man on the List.
A motion was made and seconded to extend the Law Enforcement
Officer Eligibility List until .Feb. 28, 1975. Motion
carried. A motion was made and seconded to extend the Fire
Lieutenant and Assistant Chief Eligibility Lists until
Feb. 28, 1975. Motion carried. Officer Donald K. Fadden
is on temporary disability leave at this time. Chief
Foster will have copies of the Fire and Police R.C.W. ' s
made for each commission member. The next meeting will
be held on Feb. 26, 1975 at 7 P.M. at the Fire Station,
A regular meeting time and date will be decided later.
Meeting adjourned.
The commission then started reviewing the proposed Rules
and Regulations. They finished Rule V and will start with
