Present were Don Hell, John MacGregor, Chief McQuery and Lieutenant Loveless. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A motion was made and seconded to approve giving veterans preference to Thomas Wagoner in the latest patrolman examination on the basis of his active reserve status for a year after the initial discharge. Motion carried. A letter was read from Steven Jenkins appealing the decision of the commission not to give credit for his Seattle Police Reserve experience. A motion was made and seconded to reaffirm the original decision. Motion carried. A motion was made and seconded that experience credit on an entrance examination for patrolman will only be given for full time commissioned police experience with a state, county or municipal police department. Motion carried. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Eligibility List for Sergeant as follows: Don Fadden Gary Wiles Larry filbert William Nirk Motion carried. A motion was made and seconded to change the Rules on veterans preference to read: Any person successfully completeing an entrance examination will be eligible for a veterans preference credit of 10% of the score if that person has served at least 180 of 'active duty in the armed forces and been honorably discharged. Motion carried. The secretary and chief examiner announced that she has been elected to the Executive Board of the International Personnel Management Association's Puget Sound Chapter.
