HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 05/18/1966 May 18, 1966 The regular meeting, postponed from May 4•, of the Police Civil Service Commission, was held on May 18, 1966. Present were Don Bell, Jr. , Harold Goedecke, John MacGregor , Lt. Maquery, and Chief Foster. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. A letter was read from Larry Iverson refusing an appoint- ment to the police department at this time because of his draft status , and requesting that his name remain on the list until such time as he has finished his service obligation. His request was granted. A letter was read from James Hansen withdrawing his name from the Eligibility List for Patrolman "C" Grade for personal reasons. Edward Hanson and Kenneth LaBelle will be certified to the department as of June 15, 1966. A letter was read from the Chief Examiner stating as follows "In accordance with Rule 11, Section 5 , of the Rules and Regulations , it is my opinion that obviously inappropriate standards were used in connection with the examination for Patrolman "C" Grade and plainly inadequate O results were obtained therefrom and therefore I recommend that the Civil Service Commission revoke said list and mail written notice of such revocation to all persons whose standing may be affected, and said action be made an entry in the minutes of the Civil Service Commission." A motion was made and seconded to approve the recommenda- tion of the Chief Examiner , and directing the Secretary to notify the persons remaining on said list. Motion carried. After studying the results of the Examination for the position of Chief of Police, a motion was made and seconded to certify to the Mayor, the name of Dave L. McQuery as qualified to be appointed to the position. Motion carried. Lt. Me'Luery was directed to recommend qualified applicants for provisional appointment as Patrolmen "C" Grade to be effective June 15, 1966. Fleeting adjourned. Present were Don Bell, Jr. , Harold Goedecke , John MacGregor, Chief Foster and Lt. McQuery. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. The name of James E. Pullis has been deleted from the Eligibility List for Firefighter 3rd Grade, because of failure to send his fingerprints, as requested.
