HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Committees - Civil Services Commission - 01/05/1966 Jan. , 5 , 1966 The regular meeting of the Police Civil Service Commission was held on Jan. 5, 1966. Present were Don Bell, Jr. , Harold Goedecke, John MacGregor, Chief Lee and Chief Foster. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Chief Lee notified the Commission that Donna Hoefs is resigning from her position as clerk. A discussion was held on the possi- bility that her salary and that of the new clerk could be changed in such a way that each new clerk would beceive $'361.00 per month. The Secretary was instructed to contact city officials about this. Ellen Kernutt has been certified as the new clerk and started work on Jan. 1, 1966. Since this leaves' no eligibi- lity for the position, the Secretary was instructed to post for the Clerk "C" Grade position as soon as possible. Chief Lee recommended against extending the Eligibility List for Patrolman "C" Grade, since there are only 3 names left on it and there is a definite possibility that a larger number of Patrolmen will be needed later in the year. Motion was made and seconded that the List not be extended. Motion carried. The Secretary was instructed to start the machinery to hold new examinations this spring. Yotion was made and seconded to amend the Rules and Regulations to change the age limits for new patrolmen to read: 21 to 30 years of age at time of closing date of application. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned. Se etary and Chief Examiner Approv Chairman Jan. 5, 1966 The regular meeting of the Fire Civil Service Commission was held on Jan. 5 , 1966. Present were Don Bell, Jr. , Harold Goedecke, John MacGregor , Chief lee and Chief Foster. Minutes of the last meeting were approved. Since there is a definite possibility that additional men will be hired later in the year, the Secretary was instructed to start the machinery to hold examinations for the position of Firefighter 3rd Class. The City Council will be asked to authorize the position and set a salary schedule. Moti >n was made and seconded to amend the Rules and Regulations to change the age limits for firefighter to read: No person will be admitted to examination for the position of firefighter who is less than 20 or more than 33 at the time of closing date of application. At 20 years of age a succes- ful applicants name will be placed on the Eligibility List but he may not be hired until he is 21 years of age. Motion carried. Motion was made and seconded to approve the qualifications for all positions proposed to have eventually in the Fire Department. Pdotion carried.
