April 14, 1964
The regular meeting of the Kent Civil Service Commission
was held on April 14, 1964. Present were Harold Goedecke,
John Mac Gregor , and 'jhief Lee. Mr. Mac Gregor was
appointed as of April 6, 1964, to replace Al Johnson, who
did not wish to be reappointed. His term is for 2 years.
It was decided that the Chairman should talk to the Mayor
and Larry Woodworth concerning placing the Police Clerks
under Civil Service. Section 4 of the State Law setting
up the Civil Service Commission states that all employees
of the Police Department are to be under Civil Service.
Discassion was had on possible changes to be made in the
City Hall structure, and the effects on the Police Department.
Budgeting for 1965 was alto discussed.
More information will be needed before any decisions can
be made concerning the Fire Department becoming a paid
department and coming under Civil Service. Mr Woodworth
is to be invited to the next meeting.
