The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission
was held in the City Hall at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, August
62 1963. Present were the Chairman, Don Bell, Jr. ;
Harold goedecke and Chief Lee.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and
approved.
The Patrolman's examination will be held on Thursday
Sept . 5, at 7:30 P.M. in the City Hall.
The application of Kenneth Peterson, who took the last
examination, has been resubmitted. After due considera-
tion, the Commission voted that since he did not receive a
passing grade on the last one, that he not be allowed
to take this examination.
The proposed changes in the Rules and Regulations were
studied and approved. The Secretary was instructed to
cause them to be drawn up in correct form, and be
submitted to the City Council for their approval. They
will be given to Mayor Thornton, Chief Lee, and Larry
Woodworth, Chairman of the Police Committee for their
consideration first.
The Secretary was instructed to present the following
proposed budget for the Civil Service Commission to the
Mayor :
Secretary salary $'400.00 $33.33 per month
Operating expenses $100.00
A letter was read from the Highline Junior College
concerning a new course, to be available this fall, on
Police Administration. The Commission voted to recommend
to the Mayor and City Council that if any of the members
of our Department take this course and successfully
completeiit , that they be reimbursed for the tuition fee,
which is $12.00. Also, that they be reimbursed for the
textbook, provided that the book becomes part of the
Police Library for the use of other officers in the future.
