Dear Chief Crawford,
Please accept this as formal notice of my intent to resign my position as
Police Officer effective September 4, 2001. I will be pursuing my doctorate
degree, doing contract work and being a more hands-on manager of my family.
Stepping off into very foreign land is always both exciting and scary, but I am
confident that I must at least try this new pathway.
I will be forever grateful for my years with the Department. Many friends
have been made and good policing accomplished. I have grown professionally
and personally, and will use all of the skills and talents developed to get me

(1) The test needs to be purchased.

Subject: RE: Sept. 26th Meeting agenda
I would like to tentatively add the following item to the Civil Service Commission Meeting scheduled for September 26,
2001:
AFSCME Local 2617 requests a rules change to the Kent Civil Service Rules to recognize part time employees in the Kent
Police Department as Civil Service employees. This rules change request is to address the issue of job share
opportunities for police department Local 2617 members.
Debra LeRoy will present this request at the meeting.
I will know by Monday if we need to pull this item from the agenda.
Thank you,
Debra LeRoy

Natalie,
I am also leaving you a voice mail message regarding the following:
Please delete the AFSCME Union agenda item requested for the September 26, 2001 Civil Service Meeting. This item
was requesting a Civil Service Rules change regarding civil service recognition of part-time employees in the police
department. AFSCME Local 2617 plans to propose this in the near future, however we are not prepared to propose it yet.
Thank you,
Debra LeRoy
President

Natalie,
I would also like to point out that you stated that AFSCME was requesting to"reorganize" part-time employees, not
"recognize" as I had typed in both of my emails to you. I would like the Civil Service records to reflect that AFSCME did
not request a rules change to"reorganize" part-time employees.
Thanks,
Debra LeRoy
