Dear Mr.Vinson:
. Pursuant to our telephone conversation of today's date, it is requested that the June 27,
2001 hearing currently scheduled regarding Justin Poe's challenge to the decision of the Kent
Police Department be continued for a period of at least thirty days.
I do not represent Mr. Poe with regard to his appeal and only undertook the very limited
task of obtaining his test records through a public disclosure request. Mr. Poe requires additional
time to obtain counsel to represent him at the hearing and to obtain his records.
It is requested that the hearing be continued. Please confirm whether the continuance is
granted at your earliest opportunity.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions. Thank you for your prompt
attention to this matter.

Captain Jim Miller MISSION
City of Kent Corrections Facility CIVIL,SERVICEI KT
1230 S. Central Ave.
Kent, WA 98032
Dear Captain Miller:
With this letter I am giving written notice of my resignation from my position of Corrections
Officer for the City of Kent, effective August 13,2001. As you know, I am relocating to
Colorado where I will be getting married on September 1.
In leaving Kent Corrections, I want to express my appreciation for the opportunities that
were provided to me. I especially appreciate the support that has been consistently provided
to me by Sgt's Armstrong and Pisia. They were both most helpful in providing guidance and
mentoring as I began my career in corrections, and they have continued to demonstrate their
dedication and professionalism throughout my tenure.
• I intend to continue my career in law enforcement after relocating to Colorado; either in
corrections or as a police officer. The training and experience that I gained in Kent will
undoubtedly serve me well as I seek new employment. I would, of course, appreciate any
assistance that you or others in the department might be able to provide in my job search.
Thank you for your support and assistance and for the opportunities that have been afforded
me. I will always look upon my time here fondly. Best wishes for continued success of Kent
Police and Corrections.
Respectfully submitted,
Gail Jerome
